Delete 10% of your words

To make your copy and written content 'tighter,' or shorter.

Concise copy tends to be clear and easy-to-read, and short posts appeal to limited attention spans.

A rule of thumb when editing for conciseness is to cut about 10% of your word count.

How can you implement it right now?

A quick way to tighten up your copy is to delete redundant words.

Head over to the copy you want to make shorter and press ctrl+f to find unnecessary words (and delete them).

Some words and phrases to search for and delete (or replace):

  • The

  • Then

  • That

  • Just

  • Really

  • Very

  • Quite

I posted about the 10% rule here, so come comment to let me know what other words you need to delete from your copy.
